"Last One to Die" was the opening shot from Let the Dominoes Fall, Rancid's seventh album, first aired on Los Angeles station KROQ on April 6, 2009 before it officially went to radio later that month. Tim Armstrong, Lars Frederiksen and Matt Freeman wrote it together, and Armstrong framed it as a song about the band simply outlasting everyone: after eighteen years of watching friends and fellow bands die, quit or drift off, Rancid kept pushing ahead. Brett Gurewitz produced it for Hellcat, and it plays like a band that knows exactly who it is, shout-along and stubborn.
The video, out that May, is packed with cameos, among them the WWE wrestlers CM Punk and Lita.
