“Some Nights” by fun.

The title track of fun.'s second album, Some Nights, went out as its second single in June 2012, and it's a big, stomping, multi-part rock song with power-pop hooks and progressive-pop ambition, with a narrator in the grip of an existential crisis at the center of it all. Nate Ruess, Andrew Dost and Jack Antonoff wrote it with Jeff Bhasker, who produced and mixed the track for Fueled by Ramen and Atlantic, with Andrew Dawson engineering and JoiStaRR adding backing vocals.

It took its sweet time in America, hanging around the Hot 100 for about seven months before reaching number 3 at the end of September 2012, where it sat for six non-consecutive weeks. That made it the band's second top-10 hit and second Platinum single after "We Are Young". Elsewhere it went to number one in Australia, Israel and New Zealand and into the top 10 in nine more countries, the UK and Canada among them.
