About KFOG
KFOG (104.5 FM) in San Francisco took its call sign in 1963 as a beautiful music station and switched on September 16, 1982 to a blend of album rock and classic rock called "Timeless Rock". It moved toward an adult album alternative direction in the 1990s, relaunched the format in 2016 with a focus on music from the 1990s onward, and later leaned toward mainstream alternative. Owner Cumulus Media ended the rock format on September 6, 2019, when the station began simulcasting sports station KNBR as KNBR-FM.
