About CD101

CD101 (WWCD) has been the independently owned alternative rock voice of Columbus, Ohio, since 1990, later moving down the dial as CD102.5 and CD92.9. RockLists archives its Top 101 year-end countdowns from 2001 to 2007 and its enormous annual all-time countdowns, which grew from the Top 2000 in 1999 to the Top 2006 in 2005.

WWCD launched as an alternative station at 101.1 FM in 1990. Ownership passed from Video Services to Ingleside Radio in 1992. The station shifted to adult alternative in 1995 but returned to modern rock the following year, and Andy Davis became program director in 1998, replacing Jane Purcell.

CD101 was known for oversized all-time countdowns timed to the calendar: the Top 2000 Songs of All-Time in December 1999, the Top 2001 in December 2000 and so on through the Top 2006 in December 2005. Each was a listener-voted marathon and each is preserved in full on RockLists.

When the 101.1 frequency was sold in 2010 the station moved to 102.5 FM as CD102.5, and in 2020 it moved again to 92.9 FM as CD92.9, continuing as one of the few locally owned commercial alternative stations in the United States.
