"I Don't Care" comes off Worlds Collide, the sixth album from Finnish rock band Apocalyptica, and it hands the mic to Three Days Grace frontman Adam Gontier. The first version came out in Europe in 2007; Gontier wanted to redo it for the album's US and Canadian release in 2008, the year it became the third and final single.
Eicca Toppinen said he wrote some of the words but Max Martin wrote most of them, and that it's about a fantasy rather than any real person; Gontier shares the writing credit. Howard Benson produced and piles on the keys, Hammond, Rhodes and Farfisa included, with Paul Bushnell on bass and Phil X on guitar. It went to No. 1 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart and hung around the top 20 of the Alternative Songs chart for a year.
