"Purple, Yellow, Red, and Blue" was one of the three singles that pushed Evil Friends, the seventh album from Portugal. The Man, which Atlantic released on June 4, 2013. It's credited to John Baldwin Gourley and Brian Burton, and it comes from the band's first go-round with Danger Mouse in the producer's chair, a pairing they teased early that year by leaking pictures on Bonnaroo's Tumblr page.
Manny Marroquin mixed it, with Todd Monfalcone and Kennie Takahashi recording and Casey Bates on additional engineering. The album around it drew favorable reviews and charted in the US and in several European countries, among them Germany, France, Austria and Switzerland.
