Iain Cook, Martin Doherty and Lauren Mayberry wrote it together, and the band produced it themselves; David Robert Simpson recorded it and Mark "Spike" Stent mixed, with Geoff Swan assisting.
They barely paused for breath. Work began in January 2015, just six weeks after they came off the road from promoting their acclaimed debut, The Bones of What You Believe, and they went back to Alucard Studios, the basement flat Cook owns, now fixed up with the new record's advance. Every Open Eye drew good reviews and turned up on several year-end best-of lists.
