“Giants” by Bear Hands

Bear Hands sent "Giants" out in late 2013 on Cantora Records as the first taste of their second album, Distraction, which followed in 2014, and it's the song that finally got this experimental-minded American band onto the charts: it climbed to number eight on Billboard's Alternative Songs list, their first appearance there.

Jake Aron, Ted Feldman and Yale Yng-Wong produced it, with Aron and Yng-Wong engineering and James Brown on the mix, and the writing credit goes to Feldman alongside Val Loper, TJ Orscher and Dylan Rau. It's a wiry, hook-heavy indie rock strut that sounds made for arenas, and it found a second audience when it turned up in the hockey video game NHL 15.
