“R U Mine?” by Arctic Monkeys

"R U Mine?" came out of nowhere in February 2012, a standalone Arctic Monkeys download in the UK with no album attached, and it rattled so hard that the band later folded a slightly remixed version into AM, their fifth album, in 2013. Alex Turner wrote the words and the whole band built the music, and you can hear the gang mentality in it: a heavy, stomping riff, drums hit like they owe somebody money, and Turner's wiry vocal needling away on top.

For Record Store Day that April it was pressed on purple 7-inch vinyl, a double A-side with "Electricity", only 1,750 copies. It later went platinum in Britain and found a second life in video games, from Forza Horizon and Rocksmith 2014 to Guitar Hero Live, and as downloadable content for Rock Band 3.
