"Party Hard" is the fist-pumping mission statement of I Get Wet, Andrew W.K.'s 2001 debut album on Island, and it handed the American rocker his first mainstream hit when it went to 19 in Britain. He wrote every word and note, sings it, plays piano and keyboards, and produced it with Mario Dane and Scott Humphrey; Donald Tardy drums, Gregg Roberts plays bass, Jimmy Coup, Sgt. Frank and Erik Payne handle guitars, and a crowd of additional guitarists, bassists and drummers piles in. Mike Shipley mixed it.
The video finds W.K. primping and lacing up in a bathroom until the mirror gives away an incision on his forehead, right where a third eye would sit. VH1 ranked it 89th among the best hard rock songs of all time, and Pitchfork put it at 129 among the decade's top tracks.
