Together at Last by Jeff Tweedy

Together at Last, released on June 23, 2017, through dBpm Records, is Jeff Tweedy alone with an acoustic guitar and his own back pages. Cut at the Loft in Chicago in January 2016 and produced by Tweedy with Tom Schick, it was billed as the first volume of Loft Acoustic Sessions, a series in which the Wilco frontman revisits songs from his band's catalog and from his side projects Golden Smog and Loose Fur.

Stripped of the band's noise and studio trickery, songs like "I Am Trying to Break Your Heart" turn intimate and a little raw, all creaky voice and bare strings, and you can hear how sturdy the writing was underneath all along. It's a quiet, low-stakes record from a restless songwriter taking stock, and it sits between Sukierae and Warm in his run of releases.
