“In Your Love” by Tyler Childers

"In Your Love" was the first single from Rustin' in the Rain, Tyler Childers' 2023 album, a song he wrote with Geno Seale and produced himself, and on its own it's a plainspoken, tender country love song. What put it in the headlines was the video. Scripted by the poet Silas House, with Bryan Schlam directing, it tells the story of two gay coal miners in 1950s Kentucky, played by Colton Haynes and James Scully. Childers told NPR's Ann Powers the idea came from a gay cousin he looked up to as a musical mentor. At the 66th Grammy Awards it was up for three trophies: Best Music Video, Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance.
