“The Otherside” by Red Sun Rising

"The Otherside" led the way for Polyester Zeal, Red Sun Rising's third album, arriving as its lead single on August 7, 2015, courtesy of Razor & Tie. Singer Mike Protich has said the band wrote it during their spell in Los Angeles, going after a darker mood that owed something to Alice in Chains, and producer Bob Marlette shares the writing credit with Protich, Tyler Valendza and Ryan Williams.

Beneath the heavy hard rock churn, it's a meditation on existence and what life adds up to: Protich's point is that however you spend your time here barely registers against eternity, because everybody comes out on the other side in the end. Brad Golowin directed the video, which pairs murky footage of the band playing with Protich plastered in mud.
