Polyester Zeal by Red Sun Rising

Polyester Zeal was Red Sun Rising's jump to the majors, a hard rock debut for Razor & Tie that arrived in August 2015 with Bob Marlette producing. The Akron, Ohio band already had Making of Kings behind them, and here singer and guitarist Mike Protich leads a front line with guitarists Ryan Williams and Tyler Valendza, all three there from the start.

It's a record built for the rock dial: thick riffs, big hooks and Protich's melodic roar. Five singles came off it, three official and two promotional, from "The Otherside" and "Emotionless" to "Amnesia", "Push" and "Unnatural", and the band hit the road opening for other rock acts to spread the word. On the albums chart it stalled outside the top 40 of Billboard's Rock Albums, and the follow-up, Thread, took until 2018.
