“Worth It” by RAYE

"Worth It" is the thirteenth track on My 21st Century Blues, the 2023 debut RAYE finally got to put out on her own terms. Polydor had signed her at 17, then, by her account, kept her from releasing an album and let her slide down the priority list; she left, went independent and brought the record out through Human Re Sources that February. She had written this song at 20, with Mike Sabath, John Hill and Akil King, and it went out as the album's sixth single that November.

Sabath produced it with RAYE, and the credits read like a small band: the Moongirls on guitar, bass, drums and Wurlitzer, Hill on electronic drums, Alex Young on tenor sax, Tristan Hurd on trumpet, and strings from Dsharp on violin and Sean Deschamps on cello, all mixed by Jon Castelli.
