"Want Want" comes from Surrender, Maggie Rogers' second studio album, released on Debay Sounds and Capitol in July 2022, three years after her debut, Heard It in a Past Life. Going in, she promised a record that would sound like "feral joy", a phrase she liked enough to hang on the tour that followed.
She wrote this one with Kid Harpoon and Sam Holden Jaffe and produced it with Kid Harpoon and Del Water Gap. Rogers sings lead and plays piano and synthesizer, Kid Harpoon covers bass, electric guitar and more synth, and Matt Barrick drums. Netflix later picked it to soundtrack its XO, Kitty trailer.
