"Natural" led Imagine Dragons into Origins, their fourth album, arriving in July 2018 and doubling as ESPN's anthem for that college football season, the second time the network picked one of their songs after "Roots" in 2015. The band wrote it with Justin Tranter and producers Mattman & Robin, and Serban Ghenea mixed it.
Dan Reynolds pitched it as a song about finding yourself and standing firm against whatever comes at you, admitting he had grown a little skeptical over the past decade but arguing that real self-love makes the judging and the hate stop mattering. On the Hot Rock Songs chart it gave them their fifth number one.
