AJR put out "Burn the House Down" on March 23, 2018, a new single for the deluxe edition of The Click, the American indie pop band's second album. It started with a tweet: in 2017 Morgan Spurlock, who was making Super Size Me 2: Holy Chicken!, asked them to write the film's theme, and after watching it they saw a kindred underdog taking on a corrupt giant.
Adam, Jack and Ryan Met wrote it and produced it themselves, and they charged it with the politics of 2017, Ryan pointing to the real power his generation now had to change things. It was meant for that October but got shelved for reasons nobody explained. Streaming kept it burning: more than 105 million plays by July 2019, over 351 million by September 2023.
