Very Good Bad Thing, Mother Mother's fifth album, came out on 4 November 2014, and Def Jam gave it an American release on 7 April 2015. Gavin Brown produced it, and the band from Quadra Island, British Columbia, sounds as wired and slippery as ever: Ryan Guldemond's guitar and yelping vocals up front, Molly Guldemond and Jasmin Parkin stacking vocals and keyboards around him, Jeremy Page on bass and Ali Siadat on drums.
It's indie rock with a nervous, theatrical twitch, all jagged riffs and tangled boy-girl harmonies. "Get Out the Way" found its way onto the countdowns in 2020, the year the band's music blew up on TikTok and sent their streams surging.
