Inside by Mother Mother

Inside, Mother Mother's eighth album, came out on Warner on June 25, 2021, and it's a lockdown record through and through. The Canadian indie rockers had meant to take 2020 off, but with the pandemic keeping everyone home they wrote an album instead, and by late 2020 their catalog was going viral on TikTok. Canada's restrictions meant ideas bounced around by phone and email and each member cut parts alone in the studio; Ryan Guldemond produced with Howard Redekopp.

It's a concept album about isolation and learning to love yourself anyway, and the band's quirks survive quarantine intact: Ryan's yelping guitar-pop, Molly Guldemond and Jasmin Parkin on vocals and keys, Ali Siadat on drums and Mike Young on bass. A deluxe edition followed on January 28, 2022, adding seven new songs, among them "Hayloft II", a sequel to "Hayloft".
