Flume by Flume
Flume is an album by Flume, released in 2012. 4 songs from it have charted on rock radio countdowns, with 8 countdown appearances in total. The biggest is “Holdin On”, on 2 lists with a best position of #4.
Flume, the self-titled debut from the Australian producer born Harley Streten, came out on Future Classic on 9 November 2012, and it's a record that makes the laptop sound like a living, breathing thing. He produced it himself, and the beats stutter, wobble and bloom, with warped vocal chops and fat, woozy synths that land somewhere between downtempo and the dance floor.
"Holdin On" and "Sleepless" are the standouts, hazy and euphoric at once, with "On Top" and his remix of "HyperParadise" riding along. It went to the top of the ARIA Albums Chart, went double platinum at home and won Australian Album of the Year at the 2013 J Awards, and a deluxe edition followed the next November. It's the sound that would get him called a pioneer of future bass.
