About 97.9 The Loop
WLUP, branded 97.9 The Loop after Chicago's downtown Loop, was a Chicago rock station that launched on March 14, 1977. Over four decades it moved between rock, classic rock and related formats and changed owners several times, ending with Merlin Media from 2011. The frequency was sold to Educational Media Foundation, which replaced The Loop with its Christian K-Love network on March 10, 2018; the station is now WCKL.
