About WDRE Philadelphia
WDRE 103.9 FM brought the Long Island WDRE modern rock format to Philadelphia from 1993 until 1997. Its Top 103.9 Songs of 1995 is archived on RockLists.
Jarad Broadcasting, owner of Long Island's WDRE (formerly WLIR), launched a Philadelphia version of the station at 103.9 FM in 1993, initially simulcasting programming from New York before developing its own local air staff. It gave Philadelphia its first full-time modern rock station and competed with Y100 after that station flipped to the format in 1995.
The station was sold in 1997 and the 103.9 frequency moved to an urban format. The Top 103.9 Songs of 1995 countdown archived here was contributed by a listener.
