About Rock 93.5
WARQ (93.5 FM) is a commercial radio station in Columbia, South Carolina, which signed on February 6, 1971 as WXRY with a beautiful music format. In August 1990 it flipped to active rock as "Rock 93.5" with the WARQ call letters, became a full-time alternative rock station by early 1996, and was branded "Channel 93.5" from 1999 to 2004 before returning to "Rock 93.5". On March 24, 2014 it dropped rock for hot adult contemporary; it is now owned by Connoisseur Media, and alternative rock continues on its HD2 subchannel as ALT 99.7.
