WAXQ (104.3 FM, branded Q104.3) is a commercial radio station licensed to New York City and owned by iHeartMedia. The station signed on in 1956 as classical station WNCN and was rebranded WAXQ with an album-oriented rock format in 1993 after a stunt involving a ticking clock, switching fully to classic rock on July 1, 1996. Its studios are at 125 West 55th Street in Midtown Manhattan and its transmitter is atop the Empire State Building. Each Thanksgiving holiday, Q104.3 counts down the listener-voted "Top 1,043 Classic Rock Songs of All Time."
