"Multi-Love" is the title song of Unknown Mortal Orchestra's third album, released in May 2015, and the album's title points to a year-long polyamorous arrangement between Ruban Nielson, his wife and another, younger woman. The record around it swings between giddy highs, sexual adventure and plain burnout.
Ruban wrote the song with Kody Nielson and made most of it himself: he sings, plays bass, synthesizer and sitar, and produced, engineered and mixed it, with Kody on drums and piano and co-producing. Released as a single, it made the A-list at BBC 6 Music, and the album became the New Zealand band's global breakthrough.
