"No Reason" turns up on Anarchist Gospel, the album Sunny War released in February 2023, and it's a full-band affair built around her own playing: she handles acoustic and electric guitar as well as the lead vocal. Andrija Tokic produced and engineered it, with John Tellmann assisting.
The room fills up fast. Megan Coleman is on drums and Jack Lawrence on bass, Jo Schornikow lays organ and piano across the top, and John James Tourville adds timpani, of all things, which gives the track a rumble most records never reach for. Behind Sunny War, Kyshona Armstrong, Nickie Conley and Maureen Murphy stack up the backing vocals, a big, warm chorus for a record that wears the word gospel in its title.
