"Get What You Want" had two lives. Australian band Operator Please first cut it in 2006 for Cement Cement, their second EP, then re-recorded it for their debut album, Yes Yes Vindictive, and put it out as the album's second single in October 2007.
The second time it stuck. The song climbed to number 27 on the ARIA singles chart, ranked among the 100 tracks Triple J played most that year, and has soundtracked TV ads for National Youth Week and the airline Virgin Blue. The Australian CD single backed it with "Icicle" and a remix by Wolf & Cub, while the UK edition added "Waiting by the Car".
