Yes Yes Vindictive, the debut from Gold Coast upstarts Operator Please, came out in Australia in November 2007, with Virgin/EMI carrying it to Britain the following March. The band cut it at Grove Studios on the New South Wales Central Coast with British producer Simon Barnicott, who keeps everything tight, bright and bratty.
This is sugar-rushed indie rock with a pop-punk kick: jittery guitars, shout-along hooks and a giddy impatience that never lets a song outstay its welcome. "Just a Song About Ping Pong" had already won them an ARIA at the 2007 ceremony, and "Get What You Want", "Leave It Alone" and "Two for My Seconds" followed it out as singles. At the 2008 ARIAs the album itself picked up 2 nominations, for Breakthrough Artist – Album and Best Pop Release.
