"Take It All Back" came off Folk Hop n' Roll, Judah & the Lion's second studio album, released in 2016 on the band's own Cletus the Van Records, and the album's title spells out the blend they were chasing. Judah Akers, Spencer Cross, Brian Macdonald and Nate Zuercher share the writing credit.
It became the folk band's first entry on the US Alternative Songs chart and went all the way to number one there. The song got two videos: the first arrived in July 2016, and a second went up on the band's VEVO channel in January 2017.
