“Movement” by Hozier appears on 9 radio countdowns from 9 stations between 2018 and 2019. It was first released in 2019 on the album Wasteland, Baby!. Its best result is #20 on the WXPK Top 107 Songs of 2019. In the combined RockLists rankings it is the #47 alternative song of 2019.
Hozier started "Movement" at the piano and finished it as a slow-building gospel-pop and R&B ballad, the third track on his second album, Wasteland, Baby!, out in 2019, and its second single. He wrote it alone, and it pictures love as a summons to an awe-struck dance, with Jonah and Fred Astaire turning up in the lyric.
He produced it with Markus Dravs, who also plays synthesizer, and the company is choice: Booker T. Jones on organ, Alex Ryan on piano, Rhodes, synths and bass, Rory Doyle on drums, Paul Clarvis on bell and shakers, and Hozier himself on guitar, fiddle and handclaps. Andrew Scheps mixed. It climbed to number forty in Ireland, and while the reviews were mixed, Billboard and NPR both came down on its side.
