“Low Sun” by Hermanos Gutierrez

"Low Sun" drifts in from Sonido cósmico, the album Hermanos Gutierrez put out in June 2024, and it plays like the last warm hour of a long drive. Alejandro Gutiérrez's slide guitar bends and sighs over a groove that Jeffrey Clemens keeps easy on the kit, while Estevan Gutiérrez splits his time between electric guitar and bongos.

The two Gutiérrezes wrote it together, but they brought company to fill out the horizon: Tom Bukovac adds a second electric guitar, Mike Rojas spreads organ and piano underneath, and Dan Auerbach turns up on mellotron, lending the whole thing a hazy, dusk-colored sheen.
