“Recipe For Love” by Harry Connick Jr.

Harry Connick Jr. wrote both the words and the music for "Recipe for Love" and produced it with Marc Shaiman for We Are in Love, his sixth album, out on Columbia in July 1990. Joel Moss recorded and mixed it, with Gregg Rubin assisting.

The album is traditional jazz with a swing in its hips, Connick singing and playing piano, backed by guitarist Russell Malone, drummer Shannon Powell, double bassist Benjamin Jonah Wolfe and saxophonist Branford Marsalis. Critics were divided, though a Toledo Blade reviewer was won over enough to liken him to Frank Sinatra, and the record topped the Billboard jazz charts and sold more than two million copies. It arrived the same day as Lofty's Roach Soufflé, an instrumental album by his trio.
