"All Nighter" turns up on Elastica, the English band's self-titled debut, which landed on 13 March 1995 through Deceptive at home and DGC/Geffen abroad. Justine Frischmann wrote the music, and Paul Tipler mixed it. The album ended a long vanishing act: after the singles "Stutter" and "Line Up", the band dropped out of sight for more than a year, and it's the only record with the original lineup, guitarist Donna Matthews included.
Frischmann has put her taste for short songs down to a low boredom threshold: give her the verses and choruses and spare her the middle eights and extra choruses at the end. The album went to number one in the UK and drew a Mercury Music Prize nomination.
