"Wannabe in LA" was the first single from Heart On, the third Eagles of Death Metal album, which Downtown Records released on October 28, 2008. Josh Homme wrote it with Jesse Hughes and did just about everything else himself: produced it, recorded it, engineered it and mixed it.
Hughes, never one for modesty, sold the album as a top-secret sonic warhead aimed squarely at the ladies, and the song carries that same leering strut. Its video, directed by Liam Lynch, debuted on the band's MySpace and pressed Hughes into a pin-art toy, a nod to the Nine Inch Nails clip for "Only"; an alternate "standard version" features Hughes alone.
