"Armchairs" sits on Armchair Apocrypha, the fourth solo studio album from Andrew Bird, which Fat Possum Records put out on March 20, 2007, and the near-match between song and album title is hard to miss. Bird wrote it alone, words and music. Tom Herbers recorded it, Ben Durrant added further recording and David Boucher mixed.
The album around it plugged in: after the largely acoustic Andrew Bird & the Mysterious Production of Eggs, Bird let more electric guitar into the room and pulled his songs a little more direct, though their essential character stayed put.
