"Five of Everything" was the opening salvo from Stereolithic, 311's 11th studio album, arriving as its first single on February 4, 2014, and Nick Hexum made no bones about it: the song rocks, he said, and he was glad they were leading with a rocker. Hexum wrote it with S.A. Martinez and Scott Ralston.
Entertainment Weekly's Nick Catucci heard a band whose sound had never really moved with the times, reckoning the track could have sat on their self-titled album. The video, directed by Brian Bowen Smith and premiered on Yahoo! Music later that month, keeps it simple: just the band in the studio, running through it.
