Sink or Swim by The Waifs
Sink or Swim is an album by The Waifs, released in 2000. 1 song from it has charted on rock radio countdowns, with 1 countdown appearance in total. The biggest is “Lies”, on 1 list with a best position of #96.
Sink or Swim, the third album from Australian folk band The Waifs, came out at home in 2000, and once the band's name started travelling it got an American release in 2002. It's the work of the trio that started the band in 1992: sisters Vikki Thorn (harmonica, guitar, vocals) and Donna Simpson (guitar, vocals) with Josh Cunningham (guitar, vocals).
This is rootsy, road-worn folk built on acoustic guitars, harmonica and those sibling harmonies, with "Lies" among its songs. It sits between Shelter Me and Up All Night, the record that would go top five in Australia, go double platinum and win four ARIA Awards, and by 2003 the band was opening for Bob Dylan on his Australian and North American tours.
