Yours, Dreamily, by The Arcs

Yours, Dreamily, the first album from the Arcs, came out on Nonesuch on September 4, 2015, and it's what happened when a Dan Auerbach solo record got taken over by his friends. The Black Keys frontman ended up sharing the songwriting with Leon Michels, Nick Movshon, Homer Steinweiss and the late Richard Swift, and he and Michels produced it together in two weeks, bouncing between the Sound Factory in Los Angeles, Electric Lady in New York and Auerbach's Easy Eye Sound in Nashville, with Tchad Blake mixing.

It's garage rock gone soft at the edges: woozy soul grooves, Michels' Farfisa wheezing in the corners, reverb piled up like fog. The all-female New York mariachi group Flor de Toloache sings backup on several tracks and takes the lead on "Chains of Love". The first taste, "Stay in My Corner", was inspired by the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight in May 2015 and got its own 7-inch for the occasion. Electrophonic Chronic, the follow-up, took until 2023.
