"Put a Flower in Your Pocket" comes off Yours, Dreamily, the 2015 debut from the Arcs, the side project Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys put together when what began as a solo record grew into a group effort with Leon Michels, Richard Swift, Homer Steinweiss and Nick Movshon. Auerbach wrote this one with Michels and sings it, playing acoustic guitar and bass himself, with Swift on drums. The backing voices belong to Flor de Toloache, the all-female mariachi band from New York, and they lend the song a sweet, sunlit glow.
The album was cut in two weeks across four studios, among them Electric Lady in New York and Auerbach's own Easy Eye Sound in Nashville. Auerbach and Michels produced it, and Tchad Blake mixed this track, as he did the whole record.
