Blood by In This Moment

Blood, the fourth album from In This Moment, came out on Century Media on August 14, 2012, and like every record they had made, it doesn't sound like the one before. Maria Brink and Chris Howorth, the pair who founded the band, shed much of their metalcore past and leaned into electronic samples and stranger ideas, with Kevin Churko producing. Brink swings between a guttural roar and a seductive purr over industrial-strength grooves, and the whole thing feels more like a dark stage show than a mosh pit.

It was the first album with rhythm guitarist Randy Weitzel, bassist Travis Johnson and drummer Tom Hane. The gamble worked: it debuted at number 15 on the Billboard 200 and became the band's first album to go Gold in the US.
