Pang, Caroline Polachek's third studio album and the first under her own name, arrived on October 18, 2019, two years after Chairlift called it quits and she stepped out from behind the aliases Ramona Lisa and CEP. She produced it with Andrew Wyatt, and it's art pop at its most luminous: glassy electronics, swooping melodies and a voice that can flip from hushed to operatic in a breath, all in the service of songs that ache.
"So Hot You're Hurting My Feelings" went viral, the critics lined up behind it, and Dazed put it at the top of its year-end list. It also became her first solo album to chart, landing on Billboard's Heatseekers and Independent Albums lists. Desire, I Want to Turn Into You came next.
