"Saturday" was the third single from Scaled and Icy, Twenty One Pilots' sixth album, and Fueled by Ramen sent it out in May 2021. Tyler Joseph wrote it alone and produced it with Greg Kurstin, and the duo pieced it together at a distance, trading ideas online while the COVID-19 pandemic kept them apart. It's a breezy slice of alternative pop with a funk bounce, done and dusted in under three minutes.
The bridge holds a found moment: a phone call with Joseph's wife Jenna, nudging him to press on and finish the track. He happened to be recording, decided it belonged in the song, and talked her out of re-recording it when she didn't like how she sounded. In August 2021 it became the duo's ninth number one on the US Alternative Airplay chart.
