Brian Fallon wrote "Positive Charge", words and music, for History Books, the Gaslight Anthem's sixth studio album, released through Rich Mahogany Records and Thirty Tigers on October 27, 2023, with Peter Katis producing. It was their first studio record in nine years, and it ended a long silence.
After the Get Hurt tour wound up at Reading Festival in August 2015, the band went on indefinite hiatus, broken only by a short 2018 run marking ten years of The '59 Sound, while the members chased solo careers and new projects. Fallon, their singer, guitarist and songwriter, warmed to a revival after finishing his 2020 solo album Local Honey, and the pandemic lockdown pushed him the rest of the way. They reunited in March 2022 and spent the year touring the world before History Books arrived.
