"Under Canvas Under Wraps" comes from Domestiques, the debut album the Delgados issued on their own Chemikal Underground label on October 28, 1996. The record's title borrows the French cycling term for the riders who toil for the team leader, which suits a band that did everything in-house: all four members share the writing credit, and the Delgados produced it themselves.
Emma Pollock and Alun Woodward both play guitar and both take vocal credits, while Stewart Henderson holds down the bass and Paul Savage drums. It's scrappy indie rock with more tune than polish, and all the better for it.
