"Hardlight" arrived in May 2022 as the fifth single from Spacey Jane's second album, Here Comes Everybody, premiering on BBC Radio 1 with Jack Saunders on the same day the Australian indie rock band announced a home tour. It's big-hearted guitar pop with the kind of sing-along swell that makes a whole field feel like it's in on the secret.
It was the song many expected to top Triple J's Hottest 100 that year. It reached number 68 on the ARIA singles chart and 37 on New Zealand's Hot Singles, won Best Single at the 2023 Rolling Stone Australia Awards, and went gold in Australia in 2024.
