"Black and White" comes off Sunbathing Animal, the third album from American punk band Parquet Courts, released in June 2014 on What's Your Rupture? and Rough Trade. Andrew Savage takes the lead vocal, Austin Brown plays guitar and piano, Sean Yeaton handles bass and Max Savage percussion, and Jonathan Schenke recorded and mixed it; the writing credit goes to the whole band.

The album was pieced together over three studio sessions in 2013, squeezed in whenever the band got a break from touring. The first of them turned into the Tally All the Things That You Broke EP, while other songs were held back for the full-length, and by Brown's account nobody was ever in a hurry to finish.
