Olivia Dean, born 14 March 1999 and from Haringey, is an English singer and songwriter who makes soul music that feels like a warm room on a cold night. She self-released "Reason to Stay", watched it go viral, and signed with AMF Records and Virgin EMI in 2019. Her debut album Messy followed in 2023, with the breakout single "Dive", and earned her a Mercury Prize nomination.
The Art of Loving, in 2025, is where everything clicked. It's a lush, unhurried record that borrows from neo soul and hip-hop soul without sounding like a museum piece, all supple grooves and a voice that never has to shout to get your attention. It topped the UK Albums Chart, and "Man I Need" became her first UK number-one single, while "Nice to Each Other" and "So Easy (To Fall in Love)" went multi-platinum. She also sang with Sam Fender on "Rein Me In", which held the top of the UK chart longer than any number one before it and won the Brit Award for Song of the Year.
The Grammys named her Best New Artist in 2026, and she now counts four Brit Awards alongside it.
