"Because I Love You" was the third and last single from Glorious Heights, the 2016 debut album by Australian artist Montaigne. Montaigne has described it as a look back at a relationship that felt healthy and fulfilling at the time and turned out, with some distance, to have been pretty bad, and they only realized that was how they had felt all along once the song was finished. They call it a classic love-is-blind story, and about the most fun thing they have ever written.
It reached 98 on the ARIA chart, went platinum in Australia in 2021, and turned up in an episode of the first season of Netflix's Heartstopper.
