“Flowers” by Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus let "Flowers" out ahead of Endless Summer Vacation, her eighth studio album, and when Columbia issued it as the lead single in January 2023 it landed as a breakup song flipped into a victory lap. The lyric belongs to someone who has stopped waiting on a partner to feel whole, and the music leans on disco and funk to make going solo sound like a good night out. Cyrus wrote it with Gregory "Aldae" Hein and Michael Pollack.

Kid Harpoon and Tyler Johnson produced it and play guitars and synths, Harpoon adding bass and drums and Johnson a Wurlitzer, while Pollack plays Rhodes and Rob Moose brings in strings. The IFPI named it the world's best-selling single of 2023, and it won Cyrus the first Grammys of her career: Best Pop Solo Performance and Record of the Year.
